SIPs Seam Tape has been designed to withstand heavy building movement and provide a air and moisture barrier. Sips Seam Tape has superior strength and will not tear even under the most severe building movement. Our formulation also provides a 100% air and moisture barrier to help SIPs produce a great blower door result. This high performance tape will adhere easily to OSB and bond in extreme cold and wet weather due to having MicroGrab™ Adhesive Technology. Weather-Bloc's SIPs tape is simply the best on the market.

Insure Your SIP Joints!

There are so many advantages to building with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The biggest one is energy efficiency and this is accomplished by making sure the joints are air sealed properly. Many SIPs manufacturers have found that SIPs Seam Tape offers and additional level of air sealing protection to the seams. Relying on just sealant at these joints, makes the installing technician role of caulking extremely critical. Any gap or missing caulk can cause the SIP panel to have condensation issues at that joint.

By using Weather-Bloc Seam Tape in combination with SIPs joint sealant gives that joint a 100% air barrier. This tape can not only be used on roof panels but we recommend also using them on wall panels. The thin tape design allows for drywall to be install without noticeable humps. Protect your SIPs project with Weather-Blocs SIPs Seam Tape.

Condensation is formed when warm moist air meets cold air. One element of Moisture Management is understanding and controlling where condensation occurs. If condensation occurs due to an air leak, the moisture can cause serious damage to a structure. In building construction, the more air tight the building, the more energy efficient it is.

One of the more innovative building systems in the market is Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The are up to 60% more energy efficient than conventional building. The secret to their energy efficiency is "they can be constructed very air tight with less effort." The only real energy weakness that SIPs has is the seams. If the seams are constructed air tight, SIPs is one of the best structural building products on the market. If the seams leak air, it can cause problems just like an other construction system.
When moisture is allowed to enter a SIPs structure, moisture can break down the structural integrity of the system. OSB is a wood product and being exposed to moisture for a time will cause the OSB sheet to rot and decay.

The real science is the understanding of the joints and that the caulk that is used at the joints is not ment to be an adhesive (glue) but rather a air and moisture barrier. Continues caulk through the entire joint is critical - no gaps or caulking to thin.

Joints that are perfectly caulked can be very difficult to obtain. Experts recommended that a secondary "line of defense" be used to stop fair and moisture from infiltrating in through the joint. The solution is Weather-Bloc's SIPs Seam Tape. It works because it stop 100% of air or moisture infiltration at the joint, can be installed in most weather conditions and can handle building movement without losing its effectiveness.
